5 Steps to Crafting a Winning Business Strategy

Thursday, January 26, 2023

When it comes to understanding strategy, it can be tough to know where to start.

Sure, you can read books and listen to experts in big corporate settings, but how does that apply to your small business?

Well, don't worry, because we've got you covered .

Here are five things to keep in mind as you start to wrap your head around strategy:

Define your playing field
Understand the industry you're in and the market you're operating in. It's like a soccer field versus a baseball field – they're different, and you need to know the specifics of your field.

Know the game you're playing
Once you understand the field, you need to know the game you're playing. What are the rules of the game, and how are you going to win?

Define the outcome
What does success look like for your business specifically? You can disrupt and do whatever you want, but you need to know what the desired outcome is.

Create an experience that people are willing to pay a premium for
This applies to both your employees and customers. Your employees should be excited to come to work for you,  and your customers should be willing to pay a premium for the product or service you're offering.

Make sure it promotes the margins you seek
Finally, it's important to make sure your strategy is a viable business solution that can be profitable. And don't forget to align
your strategy with your brand promise and core values to make sure you're on the right track.

Remember, strategy is about understanding your industry, your customers, and your desired outcome.

By following these five steps, you'll be well on your way to creating a strategy that works for your business.
